Cathédrale Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Vaast d'Arras, Arras, Pas-de-Calais, Artois, France
It turns out that there had been a gothic cathedrale here, said to be the most beautiful of Northern France, but it was destroyed during the French Revolution - Robespierre was from this town by the way, go figure. After the Revolution, Napoleon saw it fit to have both the Cathedrale and the Abbaye rebuilt, seeing how this town had originally been built up around first St. Vaast's original chapel, then the abbey that followed. When the cathedrale was rebuilt it was not done it the original gothic style but rather in the classical style.
